Bryant, Lakers Lose
Game 3 in Houston

Thu, May 13, 1999
HOUSTON (Thursday, May
13, 1999) – Kobe Bryant
pretty much dominated
Scottie Pippen at both
ends of the court in Games
1 and 2 of LA’s best-of-5 playoff series with the Houston
Rockets.

Thursday night, Pippen got his revenge.

Pippen broke out of a playoff slump with a career
playoff-high 37 points and 13 rebounds, and Charles
Barkley added 30 points and 23 rebounds as the Rockets
fought off elimination with a 102-88 victory over the Los
Angeles Lakers.

Bryant struggled at both ends, scoring just 13 points on
5-for-17 shooting, and also getting “posterized” by Pippen
a couple of times on the defensive end.

The Lakers still lead the best-of-5 series 2-1, with Game 4
on Saturday at the Compaq Center.
